The Vision
The Kansas City Chapter of the National Black MBA Associations vision is to be the leading organization influencing economic and intellectual wealth in the Kansas City metropolitan community
Mr. Shaw is founder and CEO of S&S Financial Services,
LLC (www.sandsfinancialservices.com)--a
Kansas City based financial services firm.He has held several senior leadership positions in
finance and accounting management at Fortune 1000 multinational firms crossing
various industries, including hi-tech, insurance, pharmaceutical, private
equity, retail, telecommunications and wholesale. Companies include Ascension
Insurance, Aventis Pharmaceutical, Hallmark Cards, Motorola, and Sprint.
In his position at Ascension Insurance, Inc. (a private
equity portfolio company owned by two multi-billion dollar private equity
firms), he held the position of Senior Vice President, Controller and Interim
CFO, presiding over a portfolio of insurance companies valued at over $100
million dollars.
Mr. Shaw has been an invited guest speaker and presenter on
the subjects of business performance management/measurement, activity-based
costing/management,balanced
scorecards, business process improvements, and shared services at several
national and international conferences hosted by the following organizations:
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Consortium of
Advanced Manufacturing – International (CAM-I), Armstrong Laing Group,
International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC), and the Activity Based
Cost Management-Advanced Implementation Group (ABCM-AIG).
He founded and led implementation of a multi-million dollar
accounting shared services center for Hallmark Cards, saving the company $4
million dollars annually in the process.Mr. Shaw is also visiting adjunct professor of accounting at Johnson
County Community College.
In 2004, Mr. Shaw was a guest speaker at the popular webcast
“Business Performance Management Strategies” hosted in San Francisco by
Business Finance Magazine and Penton Media.
He is also founder of the Kansas City Financial Shared
Services Consortium (KCFSSC) – a consortium of multinational companies
headquartered in Kansas City whose mission is to benchmark best practice
performance measures across several industries.
He graduated from Hampton University with a B.S. in
Accounting and holds an M.B.A. from Northern Illinois University/University of
Kansas.Mr. Shaw is also a faculty
member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
